We are hiring IMMEDIATELY for a Skills Trainer Treatment to join one of our community mental health providers!


Works under the direct supervision of the Day Treatment Skills Trainer Supervisor in the planning, support, implementation, and evaluation of skills-specific therapeutic services for school-aged youth in the day treatment program. Within the guidelines and direction established by the supervisor, provides education, support, direction, and modeling to assist client with their treatment goals. Responsible for implementing identified evidence-based therapeutic interventions, assisting with academic instruction, and providing skills training for all clients in the program. Must be able to provide emotional support, leadership, and direction to all clients. Consults with team members, agency personnel, and family members regarding current client issues. Responsible for providing supervision and trauma informed care of clients in the Day Treatment Center. Implements treatment programming in a classroom environment as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Engages in positive and appropriate relationship-building with clients, their resources, and coworkers.
  • Ensures safety, security, and confidentiality of clients in classroom and community-based settings.
  • Completes required documentation of a professional quality and within the timelines specified by policy.
  • Facilitates and leads Individual and group skills training with the clients in accordance with the Client’s treatment plan.
  • Understands and participates in the treatment process (from assessment to discharge), including interdisciplinary communication, family engagement, documentation, and relationship building.
  • Demonstrates understanding of risk management procedures, protocols, policies and interventions related to high risk client behavior. This is achieved through policy review, formal testing, training compliance, and validated observation which demonstrates these competencies.
  • Facilitates and leads Crisis Management and Intervention. This includes modeling the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention principals of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security while providing verbal and physical intervention as instructed in the course.
  • Communicates in developmentally appropriate and respectful manner with clients, their resources, and coworkers.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional and respectful manner with clients, their resources and coworkers; as evidenced by actions, language, and attire.
  • Demonstrates cultural awareness and works toward cultural competencies for the organization.

Required Competencies:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Demonstrates the ability to administer medications to clients when needed, per policy.
  • Completes and keeps current all training required for the position.
  • Demonstrates an ability to creatively and collaboratively problem solve in their daily work with clients, their resources, and coworkers.
  • Demonstrates an ability to use good judgment with clients, their resources and coworkers; within the guidelines of policy and Trauma informed care principles.
  • Monitors and documents client progress toward goal attainment in accordance with agency standards and complete professional documentation as required by agency policies.
  • Participates in monthly supervision with direct supervisor and participates in staff meetings with day treatment team.
  • Models, coaches, and counsels’ clients regarding skills as outlined in individual treatment plans.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of agency policy and procedures as well as the treatment process.
  • Assists clients with guidance in the process of reaching identified treatment goals.
  • Facilitates treatment activities in the school setting as well as community-based outings.
  • Facilitates regular treatments groups such as DBT and SELF as well as other evidence-based practices.
  • Intervenes as appropriate and necessary to facilitate conflict resolution and resolve crisis situations involving clients.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or equivalent education/experience.
  • Employee is responsible to have all formal training’s current and up to date.
  • Experience: Two (2 years) full years experiences as a direct care worker with at-risk children and/or adolescents is preferred.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license for state of residence. Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency. When authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance acceptable to agency.
